"An Evening for Rusti & Friends" Indonesian-themed Safari Saturday, October 15, 2005

The Honolulu Zoo Society has launched a multi tiered campaign to raise money to complete the construction of Rusti and his companion's new habitat. As reported in the Honolulu Advertiser and the Star Bulletin the Society has stepped up to take a leadership role to ensure that Rusti's new home is fully funded and built on schedule.

In addition to a donation box recently installed at his exhibit (courtesy of Cunningham Cabinets Ltd.), zoo visitors will be able to contribute to Rusti's future home by attending the Starbuck's Wildest Show in Town summer concert series beginning on Wednesday, July 6. Each summer the admission donation - this year set at $2.00 per person - benefits a specific Zoo project and Rusti's new home has been selected for 2005.

Rusti will also benefit from the selection of the Honolulu Zoo Society as the non-profit beneficiary for the annual Hospitality, Lodging & FoodService Expo held at NBC on July 13 & 14. Many thanks to Zoo Society Board member and Exposition Director, Ken Kanter, for making this possible and sponsoring local artist, Sue Clark to create the fabulous portrait of Rusti you see on this page.

Finally, the Rusti-fest will culminate in a very special evening entitled "An Evening for Rusti & Friends" on Saturday, October 15, 2005. Tickets to the Indonesian-themed safari are $150.00 per person and table sponsorships are available from $2,500 to $10,000.
